Kelly Software

Building Inspectors'
Field Force Automation

Overview

• Software on the SERVER and AS/400 is RPG-400 & RPG-ILE. Software on the personal computer is ASNA Visual RPG .

• The County Building Inspectors' and Field Force Automation Software maintains the county building permits & licensing application on the NETWORK SERVER and the personal computer. All completed field inspections made on the PC are transmitted to the SERVER and updated immediately during A Dial-up or Direct Connect transmission session.

• SERVER - maintained files are accessed during a transmission session where the remote PC makes the connection with the SERVER. The connection can be made to an AS/400 via ASNA DataGate/400, TCP/IP or Dial-Up-Networking With FTP. During this session, all data files are transmitted to the PC for that particular PC (Inspector).

• The remote PC is configured to sign-on to the SERVER and transfer data to and from the SERVER without user intervention except for initiating the session. The PC can be configured to allow the remote user sign-on privilege on the SERVER with menu access.

• The PC maintains its own updated building permits and licensing files on ASNA Acceler8DB, a database management system that is functionally equivalent to DB2/400, and resides on PCs and/or Network Servers. Changes or additions made on the SERVER will be transmitted to Acceler8DB on the PC during a transmission session and all PC files are updated accordingly. Also, all transmitted inspections entered on other PCs are downloaded to the PC which initiated the session and its files are updated.

• Random file reorganization takes place on the PC to remove completed inspections and deleted records.

• Various reports are generated on the Server to inform management of the updates which have been made to the building permits and licensing application.
